Easter Holiday The Meaning
March 11, 2024
What is the story of Easter?
Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the New Testament of the Bible, the event is said to have occurred three days after Jesus was crucified by the Romans and died in roughly A.D. 30
Easter is an important Christian festival - it's when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Christ died on a cross on a day called Good Friday. According to the Bible, Jesus was then resurrected and came back to life on Easter Sunday.
Jesus did not come into the world to suffer and die; he came to bring God's message of unconditional love and forgiveness. Easter Sunday morning tells us that nothing can ever separate us from the love of God. Perfect love, undying love, could not be killed on a cross, could not be held in a grave.
Should we celebrate a man-made holiday that God didn’t mandate?
Some have suggested that God does not command the celebration of the resurrection/Easter; therefore, it should not be celebrated. This argument also falls short, given that Jesus observed a “man-made” holiday that God did not command when he celebrated Hanukkah!
Why do Jehovah Witness not celebrate Easter?
Jehovah's witnesses don't celebrate Easter because they believe that Easter is rooted in pagan worship, and there is no evidence in the scripture that Jesus resurrected on Easter. Also, Jehovah's Witnesses argue that Jesus commanded people to celebrate His death as opposed to His resurrection.
