Family friendly Christmas movies to get you in the festive spirit.
If the idea of a perfect Christmas day involves more relaxation, with a glass of something that most certainly isn’t a grape juice while snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie rather than having everyone and their neighbor over for lunch, we get it. There will be no judgment of your homebody ways from us, instead we thought of how best to help you here at Sir Holiday headquarters and while we can’t tell you how to navigate the in-laws, and we can give you a list of movies that you should definitely think about for your lazy Christmas afternoon. After all, sometimes me-time really is the best gift you can give yourself. At least that is the excuse you can give people if they ask why you aren’t hosting a Christmas extravaganza this year.
Something I myself watched and loved in my childhood was the Polar Express, and as anyone who loves trains will tell you this movie is absolutely incredible and the train makes it worth watching even if you aren’t bowled over by the family friendly story. In this movie a little boy, sets out on a journey to the North Pole by boarding a train known as the Polar Express, on these magical adventures you will truly feel encompassed by the magic of the Christmas season. It also doesn’t hurt that this movie had countless Oscar nominations and even a few wins, so you really should consider giving this classic a go at some point during the holidays.
If your child has asked for an impossible Christmas gift, I’m still waiting on my real-life dragon or my mind reading powers whichever comes first really, or they’ve asked for something entirely inappropriate for children, say some kind of weapon they saw on TV then we have the movie for you. A Christmas Story chronicles the exploits of a little boy named Ralphie attempts to show his family, educators and of course, Santa Clause that a Red Ryder B.B. gun truly is the best gift a boy can receive for Christmas. This loveable classic has also received several nominations and awards, why not take a trip down memory lane with your children and show them the lighter side of Christmas.
If your children are struggling with issues such as not fitting in, then the Christmas season might just be the best time to pull out this modern masterpiece known as elf. In this movie, an elf who is just too tall and too big causes untold havoc and mayhem within the elves community up in the North Pole, no matter how hard he tries to be a good, active member of their community. Eventually, they decide to send him off to the USA where he is meant to find his true place and ends up learning some rather important lessons about himself and what it means to be different too. Not to mention this movie is hilarious a great way to spend a Christmas afternoon.
