Another Christmas has rolled around. It's time to unearth the decorations from storage and create a Christmas wonderland in your home. Make this year's festivities even better with these fresh creative ideas.
Add a dash of sophistication by using your silver as a decoration. Group together all of your silver, including vases, candlesticks, and bowls. Arrange all of your pieces together and add a little Christmas greenery around the base.
The pieces don't need to match or even be filled with anything, although you certainly can add as much Christmas cheer to the decorations as suits your tastes.
The same can be done with copper or brass, whatever metallics you have. To top it all off light a candle or two and watch the light reflect and sparkle.
Instead of springing for a large Christmas arrangement this year, design your own centerpiece from your Christmas tree clippings. Cluster the greenery together in charming arrangements then add some festive ribbon and a few candles. These simple items, when put together, will create a masterpiece for your table.
Add another layer to this centerpiece, and other decorations, by using seasonal fruit. Take your pick of citrus fruits like limes and lemons and mix them with fruits like peaches and apples. You can use fresh, dried or fake fruits, whatever works for you. Remember pears, cherries, figs, and cranberries will all make joyful additions to your decorations.
Try creating spheres with combinations of limes and cranberries or kumquats and greenery. If you are looking for something more discreet, create a string of citric fruit or cranberries and add them to your traditional garland.
Match the wrapping with the design and style of your tree. They do not need to share identical patterns but use the same characteristics and color scheme. When wrapping presents try exchanging bows for more natural items. Look for pretty twigs or small branch from your tree, pine cone and cranberries are also good alternatives. When you place these presents under the tree you will create new layers of detail that will make your tree more elegant.
Similarly, use wrapped gifts to spruce up other areas of the house. Add a few presents to your bookshelves, tabletops, and counters, line them up on the stairs or showcase them on the table.
Floating candles can transform a tabletop centerpiece or runner into an elegant Christmas work of art. Add bowls of water around the table and light some floating candle to create a warm peaceful ambiance. To make a table runner, line shallow pans or trays end to end across the table, then fill them with water and floating candles.
