Spring is in the air, or perhaps we should rather be saying hay fever is in the air. Well, hopefully the changing of seasons has not yet brought about a flair up of allergies, or even worse the flu. However, just in case you have succumbed to any seasonal bugs, we at Sir Holiday came up with a plan of action to reignite your love affair with all things warm, sunny and well, spring-like. Therefore, if you or anybody else you know is currently feeling a little bit too nostalgic for winter and forgetting all of the perils of having painfully cold toes, use this plan to restart their love affair with all things spring. Let’s get into the best movies tied to the theme of spring.
Spring romance, is one particularly strong movie association, after who can’t help but be open to falling in love when the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the world seems to be more filled with life than ever. One such movie to consider watching is a 2011 release known as Midnight in Paris, this particular romantic comedy showcases the fictional story of a writer who is currently facing dead-ends within his career. In the movie he manages to return to Paris in the 1920’s where he is able to socialize with classical literature greats such as Ernst Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
If you are willing to take a trip back down to the 1990’s then there is a Tale of Springtime as well, created by Eric Rohmer the iconic love story is enough to warm you down to your very bones. The movie tells the story of a Philosophy teacher from Paris whose name is Jeanne, the lovely Jeanne is soon noticed by a music student who plots to connect her with the music student’s father – Igor. The story travels from Paris all the way to Fontainebleau where Igor has family, and guess what spring is in full bloom in this idyllic town as well. The story features all the markings of a great romance as well, with plenty of misunderstandings and a comedy of errors of sorts, if you will.
To experience another culture, how about go on and rent the Memoirs of a Geisha. This movie has some of the most amazing settings that you might as well watch it just to be bowled over by the view every couple seconds. It follows the life of a young girl, Chiyo, who at a mere nine years is sold to a geisha house. Over the years she is taught the arts of entertaining men who come for conversation and entertainment with these beautiful women. Once she grows up, she becomes more and more influential, and has managed to carve a rather splendid life for herself. However, World War II comes to throw a spanner in the works and nothing is ever the same after that.
