If you have managed to recover from the hype of New Year’s and have rediscovered your balance, then you surely must have realized by now that January is just flying by and before you know it, February the 14th will be dazzling our calendars once more. Valentine’s Day is one of the few days of the year where we all come together to acknowledge our significant others and all that they do for us, this day of romance and love is celebrated in most countries around the world. With so many people, including plenty of singletons, getting in on the fun, you would think that there would be no time for weddings, or is there?

Well, there must be because plenty of weddings have been held on Valentine’s Day, just about everyone from Britney Spears to Vince Vaughn has chosen to take their march towards married life on this special day. However, we here at Sir Holiday were a little perplexed about a couple of things really. For starters at a Valentine’s Day wedding do you receive any negative omens or luck due to the fact that it is happening on the 14th of February. In addition, because it’s Valentine’s Day are there any specific things that you are required to do when planning your wedding for this momentous occasion. Or can you just forget about the fact that it is Valentine’s Day. Hence, we have gathered here today to research this topic together and find out why these things are the way they are.

Valentine’s Day Weddings

Let’s begin right at the very beginning, of course, there are plenty of people who just want to show off how much they love each and how their love will continue to stay strong in a contest where so many other people have failed. One of the main reasons people may choose to marry on this celebration of love, is because they were also proposed to on this day.

An example of a couple who got engaged on Valentine’s Day is Howard Stern and Beth Ostrotsky. But many other couples have gotten engaged on this auspicious day, and we are sure that many other happy individuals will be popping the question to their significant others this Valentine’s Day. Be sure to keep your eye on social media, you never know who could have gotten a diamond ring as their Valentine’s gift.

If you’re wondering if anyone respectable would ever choose to get married on this ostentatious day of unbound infatuation with love, then the answer is yes. Victoria Secret model Adriana Lima married NBA footballer in 2006 on Valentine’s Day, Keri Russel got hitched to Shane Dreary in 2007, even Salma Hayek picked Valentine’s Day as her perfect wedding day.

If you’re currently planning your wedding on Valentine’s Day you might be a bit hesitant to immediately dive straight towards the love theme, however we think that is a marvellous idea. There are plenty of places to source your inspiration from, the only question is how far you are willing to go for love?
